Dr. Wallace Vaught graduated Magna Cum Laude from Furman University in 1976, and was elected a member of Phi Beta Kappa. He graduated from the Medical University of South Carolina in 1981 and completed his urology residency at Fitzsimons Army Medical Center in Denver, Colorado in 1986. After four years at Eisenhower Army Medical Center in Augusta, Georgia, he moved to Florence, South Carolina where he has practiced urology for the past twenty-five years. He maintains an active practice in general urology and has maintained his board-certification through successful completion of the re-certification process. In February 2017, Dr. Vaught moved his practice location to Hartsville, South Carolina.

The Medical Group is a multi-specialty physician group that offers cardiology, critical care, internal medicine, occupational medicine, pulmonary, orthopaedic (orthopedic) and OB/GYN services to patients throughout the Hartsville region, including Darlington, Chesterfield and Lee Counties. The group's mission is to offer individualized, comprehensive care for patients of all ages with a variety of needs from routine checkups to highly specialized care.

The Medical Group began in 1996 with three physicians: Dr. Melvin Nickles, family medicine and occupational/industrial medicine; Dr. Robert Bradley, internal medicine; and Dr. Ballentine, cardiology. The original office was located at 206 Swift Creek Road in Hartsville. The practice expanded in August 1997 to a second location with five additional physicians. This second location was closed in 2000 when some of the group moved to the current location in the Medical Office Building adjacent to Carolina Pines Regional Medical Center. The Medical Group currently has three locations and more than 20 providers, including three of the five original physicians: Dr. Abraham Areephanthu, Dr. Robert Elder and Dr. Michael Harless.
